Final Unit Plan Practice
It is time to start thinking about your Final Unit Project. Begin by rereading the description given in the course syllabus. Your project will involve you planning several (3+ lessons) using the pieces in the STAIRS Model* or another preferred lesson plan template.
By next week, you will need to select a sample audience to use for your unit plan. This can be an actual setting or one that I provide to you. Again, see your syllabus for details. If you do not have a classroom, here are the data for sample elementary or secondary unit plans.
Then, using the outline given in class (also available on the Planning page), begin to plan your unit. Bring in your work next week- we will take a look in class.

Compose a reflective blog post on your experience so far with lesson planning. You are free to write whatever you like, as long as you also provide at least two hyperlinks to supporting evidence or potentially useful tools in your post. For example, you may want to talk about any or all of the following:
- what you know about your students' prior knowledge and conceptions (either a real class, one I gave you, or a hypothetical example)
- how you can go about unpacking the standards (Common Core State Standards)
- how you can integrate the ISTE-S standards into your lesson.
- the parts of a lesson objective (learning target)
- how you might assess student learning
- what kinds of instructional strategies are most appropriate to the task
- how you might differentiate your lesson for your students
- how you might evaluate and use the materials and resources for this lesson
- what an effective anticipatory set/hook might be for your lesson
- any headaches, successes, or confusion about the lesson planning process
